“A Wrinkle in Time,” written by Madeleine L’Engle, a science fiction novel that takes you on a journey through time and space. The story follows Meg Murry, a young girl with a brilliant mind but has a troubled past. With her younger brother Charles Wallace and her friend Calvin, Meg goes on a quest to find and rescue her missing father, a scientist who disappeared while studying time travel.

L’Engle’s novel shows themes of love, courage, and conflict between good and evil. Throughout the book she explores the concept of a tesseract, ‘a wrinkle in time’ that allows people to travel across the universe. The book also shows the theme of courage through the main protagonist Meg as she pushes through all the dark forces that come her way. Her determination to find her father is an inspiring example of loyalty and resilience. L’Engle adds in themes of individuality, embracing a person’s unique qualities, and that the power of love overcomes darkness.

Review:

The novel is captivating and thought-provoking that stands the test of time. It takes you on an exhilarating journey through time and space, making you enter a world filled with wonder and mystery. It took me on an emotional roller coaster along with the main character Meg as she went from a depressed teen failing school, to excited to see her father again (spoiler!!), but then depressed again when she loses him again. I personally really enjoyed the book as I like books that keep me on my feet and make me want to find out what’s next (keeps me hooked). I would recommend this book to someone who likes the theme of time travel or enjoys magical fantasy. There is also a movie on this book starring Oprah Winfrey so reading the book before watching that makes the movie so much better (I watched the movie first but don’t do that!).
