My mum’s birthday was on the 8th of August, since we were stuck in Singapore and couldn’t travel, we decided to spend my mum’s birthday weekend in Sentosa, Singapore.

We were in Senstosa from Thursday 5th August – Monday 9th August. We stayed at our friend Melody and Casper’s (really nice) apartment in Sentosa Cove. In the amount of only five days out family did so many fun activities. Here’s how it went:

Day 1: Arrival In Sentosa

We arrived at the apartment quite late as packing took longer than expected and we needed to pick up dinner. We ended up getting to the apartment around 7:30–8 ish. We unpacked briefly, turned on MasterChef Australia, and ate some mexican on Melody and Casper’s beautiful balcony. Once we were done eating, we cleaned up and went to sleep.

Day 2: The Luge Part 1

The next day was a very chill day, we didn’t do much. Emir and Baba went swimming and we played a board game or two. The best part of that day however, was the Luge. The Luge is basically a wheeled ‘gravity’ (as the Luge describes it) car, which you can control down the 4 race tracks – when you get the tickets the is the option to get go on 1,2,3 or 4 rides on the luge cars and the skyline. We got the luge just as they were closing the ticket booth so we were only able to go on 2 rides, after a lot of persuading, it was still really fun. Being the person I am, I was super safe when it came to driving on the cars, so I being a bit slower than the rest of my family. Each of the four tracks were super fun and different in it’s own way, I really enjoyed it (I’ll give a more detailed review later in the article). Once we were done with the luge, we picked up some food, went home, ate the food, freshened up, and went to sleep💤.

Day 3: Luge Part 2 and Failed Cake

This was the day before Mamma’s Birthday, which was the day I planned to make a cake for my mums birthday. However that didn’t really go as planned. As I was stacking the cake, the cake sort of broke, so it was kind of a disaster – however it tasted really good so we ate it anyway (check out my blog post about this failed cake. click here). The cake (for me at least) took up most of the day, so I was done around 2ish. Afterwards, we picked up some lunch and hung out our other friend, Milena’s place who also lives in Sentosa. We were there for about 1 and a half hours. Then we decided to book the Luge again because it was so fun, we booked the Luge for 4 rides (My dad didn’t go because his back hurt from the day before). Before going to the Luge, my mum really wanted to go on the Sentosa Cable Cars. So we did, unfortunately we couldn’t all go in the same car due to COVID, so 2 of us went in one car and other 2 went in another. The cable car ride all in all took about 25-ish minutes, so we were actually early for The Luge. We got to the Luge, registered our tickets, got our helmets on and got in the cars. Unlike the day before, I was way more competitive and less ‘safe’. The time went by so fast, before you knew it, the 4 rides were over.

Mini Review of the Luge: All in all I really enjoyed the Luge, I found it different to other activities in Singapore. One small complaint I do have though, is that all the cars are the same size (they are kind of small, I fit in it though), which makes it hard for tall people like my dad to fin in the car. My dad’s back hurt after his first time going on the Luge Cars. Besides that the Luge really really fun, and I would definitely go there again with my friends and family.

Day 3 (part 2) : Midnight

Mamma’s birthday was so close, so we wanted to do a small celebration at midnight. I messaged all my cousins (on my mum’s side) to do a video call at midnight for mamma. Mamma had absolutely no idea any of this was happening, we surprised her at midnight, with my cousins, my really bad looking cake and her gifts. My mum talked with my cousins for a while, then we all went to sleep, we had a long day the next day.

Day 4: Mamma’s Birthday & Zip lining

The next day was Mamma’s birthday and we did a lot of things. The main thing was that we had zip lining at 11 am. So in the mourning, around 9am, we hiked to the zip lining place (which was on a top of a hill). Once we got to the zip lining, place we registered our ticket, and got geared up, Emir was under the minimum weight so he had to zip line together with either me, mamma or baba. Then they took us up to the very top of the hill where the zip line starts. My parents made go first, which was scary however it ended up being really fun, the breeze was really nice as I was going down the zip line. After everyone in my family went down the zip-line, we decided to go 2 more times on the zip line, because it was just so fun. Once we finished all three (which were so fun) rides, we grabbed some pizza and had lunch on this climbing playground. Once we finished our pizza, we went home and showered and got changed. Then we went to VivoCity, to pick up some really yummy thai food and some last minute gifts :). Then we got home and set up the dinner table with all the yummy yummy food. We showed mamma all the food set up, and we also cut the failed cake that I made. The food was really delicious. I had so much food that night. Once we finished the food, we went to sleep, we had a very long day.

Mini Review of the MegaAdventure Zip Line: I really enjoyed the zip line, it was so fun and the view of Siloso Beach and the Jungle when you are on the zip-line. Honestly I have zero complaints.

Day 5: Leaving Sentosa

On the last day in Sentosa, we didn’t do much, all of us went swimming for a bit, then we packed our stuff, then went home actually. And that was the end of a really fun weekend at Sentosa. I enjoyed every bit of that weekend, and I would love to do something like this again.
