“The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas is a powerful young novel that tackles important issues of race, identity, and social justice. The story is about the life of Starr Carter, a 16-year-old African American girl, who witnesses the shooting of her innocent childhood friend Khalil by a police officer. The book goes into the aftermath of this tragedy, as Starr deals with the trauma, figures out her own identity, and the choice she faces about whether to speak out against what happened.

The novel is both gripping and thought-provoking, offering a unique perspective on the Black Lives Matter movement through the eyes of a young, relatable girl. It highlights the complexities of racial hierarchy in America, the struggles of communities containing loads of violence, and the importance of using your voice for change.

Angie Thomas’ writing is both engaging and emotionally relatable (The Hate U Give is one of the only books that made me cry), making it accessible to a wide range of readers, from young adults through to adults. The characters are well-developed, and the dialogue feels authentic, making it easy to become emotionally invested in the story, like I became, I finished the book quicker than any other book.

In summary, “The Hate U Give” is a remarkable and a great novel that addresses social issues with depth and sensitivity. Angie Thomas’ storytelling and character development makes it a must-read, and it has had a significant impact on everyone’s lives. This book really changed my perspective on how I view the world and people. I really recommend it.
